Derek Ramsay says current girlfriend Angelica Panganiban is "yummier" than ex-girlfriend Solenn Heussaff

Mula sa airport ay dumiretso ang hunky actor na si Derek Ramsay sa presscon para sa iniendorso niyang Belo Men skin care products kahapon, October 26, sa Annabel's restaurant sa Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

Kagagaling lang kasi ni Derek sa Hong Kong, kung saan nag-compete ang team na kinabibilangan niya to represent he Philippines sa Ultimate Frisbee Hong Kong Open.

Very proud ngang bitbit pa ng actor-athlete ang gold medal niya dahil nag-champion sila sa naturang sports competition.

Tinalo nila ang Beijing, China, sa finals. Pangalawang championship victory na ito ng team nina Derek ngayong taon; ang una ay nakuha sa isang tournament sa Singapore.

Bukod sa tagumpay sa sports, proud din si Derek na siya ang napili ng mag-inang Dra. Vicki Belo at Cristalle Belo-Henares para maging mukha ng Belo Men. Sa dinami-dami nga naman ng male endorsers ng Belo ay si Derek ang tinawag na "The Ultimate Belo Man."

Kaya naman agad tinanong ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Derek kung ano ang feeling niya sa titulong ibinigay sa kanya ng Belo.

"Hindi ako sanay na yun ang tawag sa akin. But I'm thankful to Vicki and Cristalle, if they see me as that. Nung in-offer sa akin ito, I don't see myself as that.

"Pero gusto ko kasing inaalagaan ang skin ko. There's nothing wrong in being called a metrosexual, that a guy takes care of himself. Hygiene, for all of us, whether women or men, is very important," saad niya.

SUPPORTIVE GIRLFRIEND. Kasama ni Derek sa Hong Kong ang girlfriend niyang si Angelica Panganiban. Malaking bagay nga raw para sa kanya ang ipinapakitang suporta ni Angelica.

"She followed me there," sabi niya. "It's really a big boost and inspiration on my part. I truly appreciate her presence there.

"And it's also our time to make up sa mga oras na hindi kami magkasama dito because of our busy sked. Isang araw lang kaming nakapag-ikot sa Hong Kong, pero nakakatulong yun sa relationship namin to catch up for lost time."

Pero kung si Angelica raw ang masusunod, gusto na nitong tumigil si Derek sa pagsali sa frisbee competitions dahil sa kanyang injuries.

"She's kind of given up on that," sabi ni Derek. "But I owe it to her. She really wants me to rest my knee.

"Not give up naman playing frisbee, but yung competitive frisbee which is taking a toll on me. I have a busted right knee.

"I just had surgery in February of this year. I re-aggravated it. I tore the wounds inside.

"So, maybe after these back-to-back wins, siguro isa na lang, yung sa Japan na lang, and I could retire na from competing."

ANGEL IS PART OF THE FAMILY. Sa isang interview sa kanya, sinabi ni Derek na Angelica is "not just a girlfriend but a part of the family already." Ano ang ibig sabihin niya nito?

"She is my friend. When I say she's part of the family, when I walk into the house, I don't have to do the prim and proper thing na 'Mom, Dad, here's Angel.' Papasok lang siya sa bahay kasi bahay na rin niya yun, e. Ganun lang kami sa bahay.

"It's one big family. When we go out, when we go on holidays, kung saan-saan natutulog. Angel will sleep with my nephews, with my sisters. I'll be sleeping in the other room. The next day, iba na naman yung sleeping arrangement.

"So, she's already part of the family and we all get along. I'm very happy that's the situation," sambit ni Derek.


Sobrang close na raw ni Angelica sa family niya. Sa katunayan, kapag nagpaplano sila ng bakasyon, si Angelica ang kausap ng mommy niya at mga kapatid.

"I've been trying to explain that. It's been that way for the longest time.

"Itong Pasko na ito, sila na nga ang nagpaplano, e. Ako, naghihintay na lang kung saan ako pupunta. Pero my mom, my sisters, si Angel ang nagpa-plan ng trip.

"I think we're going to Bali for Christmas or just after Christmas. And they're the ones doing the preparations," banggit ng aktor.

NO WEDDING PROPOSAL YET. Hindi ba siya minamadali ng parents niya na pakasalan na si Angelica?

"My parents never pressure me," sabi ni Derek. "They'll make me make my own decisions in time.

"In everything that I've done, never akong prinessure ng parents ko. They'll be there to support me in whatever decisions I make. They're there to support Angel and me."

Pero never pa ba siyang nag-propose ng kasal kay Angelica?

"No, not yet," sagot niya. "But if you're gonna ask me if she's the one, yes, she's the one.

"But have we spoken about it and if we have plans? No, we definitely have not. We want to get the things we'd like to be done first before we create new goals together.

"When you get married, that changes everything. She has her goals. I don't want to stop her from progressing. I have some goals that I want to achieve.

"And once that's all done, pag nakalatag na lahat yun, di go na kami."

Hindi ba siya nakukulitan na marami ang nagtatanong kung kailan sila ikakasal?

"No, actually I like it because it's nice to see that people want us to go that way. And people like our relationship.

"So, when people ask me about that, hindi ako naiinis. Natutuwa pa nga ako na parang yun ang gusto ng mga tao para sa amin.

"Yun din naman ang gusto ko in the long run. Pero right now, tapusin muna namin yung mga bagay na dapat naming gawin.

"Bakit naman kami magmamadali? Everything is doing so well. Our relationship is getting better and better, stronger and stronger. So, I don't want to change it right now. Everything is perfect."

SOLENN HEUSSAFF. Hindi naman maiwasang intrigahin si Derek ng entertainment press tungkol sa ex-girlfriend niyang si Solenn Heussaff dahil pumapasok na rin ito sa showbiz.

Tanong nga kay Derek ay kung sino ang mas yummy—si Angelica o si Solenn?

"Si Angelica!" mabilis nitong sagot.



Paano kung makarating ito kay Solenn?

"It's okay if it gets to her," sabi ni Derek. "Angel is my longest relation. So, definitely, she's yummier.

"It's not all about looks. They're both good, they're both very beautiful. But there's something with Angel and I that's why we're still together, which didn't happen to me and Solenn."

Ano ang feeling niya na nasa showbiz na rin si Solenn?

"I'm happy for her. She's a very talented girl, dati pa. Years back, alam ko naman na kaya niyang kumanta, kaya niyang umarte. She used to perform in her school in Paris.

"It's all a question [of] whether she wanted to go and pursue a career [in showbiz]. I'm happy for her that she's finally here."

Kung magkakaroon ng chance na magsama sila sa isang project, papayag ba siya?

"Oo naman!" bulalas ni Derek. "That would be great. Wala namang problema between us.

"Actually, Solenn and I are still friends to this day. Angel knows this. I text with her, but not on a regular basis."

Ano ang reaksiyon niya nang sumali si Solenn sa Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown?

"Yung sinalihan niyang show, that's her personality. I knew she would end up doing something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if she wins it. That's her personality."

Nagkaroon ba ng chance na mag-meet sina Angelica at Solenn?

"Yeah, they've met one time or two times. And it's okay.

"Even Solenn always ask me, 'Hey, when am I gonna meet your girlfriend?' So, there's no issue between Solenn and I, or even Solenn and Angelica," paniniguro ni Derek.

Nali-link ngayon si Solenn kay Richard Gutierrez. Ano ang comment niya rito?

"I don't know Richard personally, e. I know who he is, of course, but I don't know him personally. So, I wouldn't know if their personality would clash or would meet.

"But Solenn is easy to get along with. She's a beautiful lady. I'm sure there are lots of guys after her. Hindi ko alam kung magka-clash sila o magkakasundo sila," sabi ni Derek.
